One of The Cure's most enduring and recognisable songs, 'Boys Don't Cry' was originally released in 1979. By 1986, the band had a new line-up and were enjoying growing commercial success following the release of The Head On The Door and the single 'Inbetween Days'.The compilation Standing On A Beach, collecting the band's singles, followed shortly after, and a new mix of 'Boys Don't Cry' was created to promote it (with the original version also included on the album). The '86 mix features updated production and newly recorded vocals from Robert Smith, resulting in a more immediate and direct take on the track. This Record Store Day release also includes the 12" mix, alongside B-sides 'Plastic Passion', 'Do The Hansa' and 'Pillbox Tales', which captures The Cure in a gloriously spiky and aggressive mood.
