Sekoya - Shuna Sekoya

"This album started life when three good friends got together in the depths of lockdown to make their dream project a reality. We met in an ice-cold room next to a workshop with gutted shells of old taxi cabs, a place we affectionately called 'Shuna'. Out of long meditative jam sessions something began to come together and we slowly crafted these compositions. As lockdown lifted we headed out to the shores of Loch Fyne where we recorded a demo that attempted to tame these wild horses we'd made. It was this demo that we shared amongst friends. One was Noah Nelson who, unbeknownst to us, is the genius engineer behind Court Square Recordings in Memphis, TN. After hearing the demo, Noah invited us to cross the Atlantic and record our compositions live. Over a week we were challenged to seek out a sound that was sincere and which served the emotional intention of each of these compositions, compositions which had been companions through our lives for a year by that point and which had become reflections on mortality, stillness, compassion and friendship: a process which talented filmmaker David Hagen documents in his film 'Imperfect Suits Us Better'."
