Five Nights In Maine Soundtrack David Boulter
The 3rd 7” in David Boulter’s Soundtrack Series is centred around Maris Curran’s “Five Nights In Maine” film from 2015.
About the film:
Sherwin, reeling from the tragic loss of his wife, Fiona, travels to rural Maine to meet his estranged mother-in-law, Lucinda. Their relationship is tense, but trying to understand their mutual pain brings some kind of reconciliation.
About the music:
“I didn’t want to make the music to become too sickly sad by overstating the obvious emotion; and I wanted a sound pallete that was simple and would allow light and dark: Vibraphone, bowed and with beaters, Flute, Wine glasses I played and
sampled to manipulate the pitch and sound, and an old clock, also processed. The atmosphere of the film seemed to ask for space.”
