Welcome Home My Dearie is the debut duo album from long-time friends and collaborators Donald WG Lindsay and Alasdair Roberts. The two first met as teenagers some thirty years ago, and over the decades have made music together in kitchens, bars, pubs, and occasionally on stage and in the studio. This album marks the first time they’ve committed their shared repertoire to a full-length recording.
Recorded live to tape at Green Door Studios in Glasgow by Sam Smith, the album takes its name from a Lowland pipe tune featured within. Donald plays Scottish smallpipes fitted with his signature Lindsay System chanter, alongside twelve-string guitar and whistle; Alasdair contributes six-string acoustic guitar. Both sing—sometimes in solo turns, sometimes in close harmony.
