Dinosaur Jr. - Green Mind Dinosaur Jr.
The year was 1991. The album was arguably the biggest kind of test possible for a band many credit with laying the foundations for US alternative rock music. The record was Green Mind, and the feedback confirmed that even having lost founding bass player Lou Barlow, and opting to sign to one of those dastardly major labels, Dinosaur Jr could still deliver something magical. It also revealed J Mascis to be one of the most influential and accomplished musicians of his generation. Often referenced as a borderline-solo project, with the main man playing pretty much every instrument on here, alongside vocals and production, it's actually just another mind-blowing chapter in the pantheons of a group that thankfully have never known when to quit. Or quieten down.
