Copy Haho - Copy Haho Copy Haho

Ask any Aberdonian (including myself) about Stonehaven and they’ll tell you all about their summer day trips to the seaside resort of the east, the open air swimming pool filled with salt water, ice cream from Aunty Bettys and fish and chips from The Bay next door. I will tell you all of this but I will also tell you about Copy Haho. Copy Haho are most definitely the best band in the entire history of Stonehaven.

Formed in 2005 and now inactive (Joe makes music under his own name, some members now live in London), they’re still pals. Copy Haho, the group’s self titled debut full length, was recorded not in Stonehaven but outside Glasgow at Chemikal Underground’s Chem19 studios (Life Without Buildings, Arab Strap, the Delgados) and mixed by Simon Ward of Errors. Originally released in June 2011, it’s probably best described as indie rock viewed through a kaleidoscope of post-Pavement-pop…everything that I love about Los Campesinos! 2012-era rock music, basically. What does it sound similar to? Well, the group’s biggest inspirations “were always each other”, but it’s a bit like The XCERTS, a lot like Dananananaykroyd and mostly like a band who love Husker Du, Life Without Buildings, Silver Jews, Joan of Arc.

A batch of LPs have recently been unearthed in Richard's parents' house, and we have some to punt. Such an excellent band from an equally excellent part of the world. Long live punks making music in the Aberdeenshire suburbs.

Stonehaven is a punk rock town.
