Black Axess - The Golden Seal Black Axess
Long buried in Boston's musical underground, Black Axess finally emerges with an unreleased trove of 80s psychedelic funk-rock driven by the vision of guitarist, singer and songwriter Sherman Williams. Clearly inspired by dons such as Funkadelic and James Brown, Williams chased a sound as heavy as his guitar attack before forming Black Axess to channel that fevered energy. Only one single, 'Tonight,' ever saw daylight while the rest of the album languished on tape, nearly lost forever until Robert Garcia and Daniel Mathis uncovered and rescued it. Decades later, 'The Golden Seal' still shines.
