Amphitrio - Seasons Amphitrio

Amphitrio is a contemporary jazz trio from Bucharest, Romania, formed in 2023 by pianist and composer Andrei Petrache, bassist Mike Alex, and percussionist Philip Goron - three musicians whose artistic paths merge classical precision, modern jazz sensibility, and alternative experimentation. 

This Suite is our second release (chronologically) after POINTS and consists of four pieces, each of them constructed around the meanings and features of a particular season, like in the well known Vivaldi’s concert work. Here we experiment more with different sound sources to depict specific musical flavours that would fit a season’s core energy in the best way possible, using a wide pallette ranging from bits of punk groove and powerful synths to charol-like delicate textures or crunchy and strident modern jazz harmonies and melodic lines.
Every piece on this second album (after POINTS) is quite bold in it’s inner expression and should be listened to with fresh ears. Our perspective of a season might not be as yours, but we guarantee that it is an interesting one. We hope that you will enjoy listening to it as much as we did composing, rehearsing, playing and recording it.
