Alain Resnais - Hiroshima Mon Amour Alain Resnais
A French actress talks to her lover, a Japanese architect, about their past and shares her perspectives on the Hiroshima bombing before separating from him.
Their present is haunted by thoughts of the future as they attempt to exorcise memories of past love and trauma, including an escape from Nevers to Paris by bike that coincides with the atom bomb detonating above Hiroshima. Japanese humanism and French innovation combine to forge one of cinema’s greatest films about the horrors of war and the pain of remembrance.
Contains scenes of graphic violence or injury and harm towards children.
