Women Of The World (Glasgow)

Glasgow has always been home to some of the best music in the world, and you don’t need us to tell you that. There’s always a sense of something happening below the pavements and in the dingy venues dotted all around the Clyde. Here’s something really special: three different generations of women from Glasgow (and the very nearby suburbs), some new music and some old, all entering the physical realm at the same time…

Radhika is our newest favourite Scottish dream pop trio featuring Radhika Meera Dade, Sushil K Dade/Future Pilot AKA and Eric MacDonald. Radhika’s music takes inspiration from the films of David Lynch, her Indian heritage, and fellow pop artists Cocteau Twins, Broadcast, Felt, Strawberry Switchblade and The Go-Betweens.

Starry Eyes is the gorgeous new single from their upcoming debut record, featuring special guest contributions from Gerry Love (Lightships, ex-Teenage Fanclub) and Mitch Mitchell (The Pastels).

We’re delighted to have copies of Starry Eyes on a green flexi disc, released just in time for Halloween and the changing of the seasons. Walking through Kelvingrove park whilst the leaves tumble to the ground never felt so good when Rahdika is in your ears. Whilst sharing a name with Roky Erickson’s titular song, Radhika’s Starry Eyes is gloriously autumnal, drenched in dripping harmonies and sweet as late summer fruit. You’re gonna love this.

Split 7″ single in a wraparound sleeve featuring artwork by Annabel Wright. Reverse board printed inner sleeve with artwork by Russell Elder. Includes postcard insert.

Second City Static is a collaborative project between two Glasgow based DIY labels; Errol’s Hot Wax & Watts Of Goodwill. The loose plan is an irregular series of not for profit live shows at The Old Hairdresser’s showcasing two artists, with a split 7” single & download card included in the price of the ticket. The latest addition to the series features Glasgow punk legends Lung Leg and Brighton’s newest punk legends Unmarry Me (ex Huggy Bear/Help She Can’t Swim).

Lung Leg formed in Glasgow in 1994 and were part of the city’s vibrant DIY underground scene. At the turn of the century Lung Leg imploded, scattering their component members to different parts of the country or to other groups. Following the reissue of ‘Maid To Minx’ in 2022, the band reformed with Jane and Annie joined by new members Paul Thomson, Simone Antigone and Hando Morice. Lung Leg ‘s track ‘Girls‘ features Lora Logic (X-Ray Spex, Essential Logic) on saxophone and is the bands’ first new release since 1998.

The flip-side, ‘Unmarry Me! (Anthem)‘, is the debut song from Unmarry Me, whose line-up includes founding members of girl-boy revolutionaries Huggy Bear. Unmarry Me are about bending, queering, breaking and resetting rules, smudging boundaries and having lots of excellent fun.

We’re the only shop in the world to have copies of this.

Grape colour vinyl, originally produced for Japan in early 2025.

LTD to 250.

In 1982, Strawberry Switchblade (in this case, the first incarnation consisting of Jill and Rose alongside Janice and Carole), recorded one demo at Glasgow’s Hellfire Club and had only played a handful of gigs. 1982 4-Piece Demo is a document of those early days. The group would eventually pair down to a duo and go on to chart success but it’s in these raw, passionate recordings that the songwriting and vocal elements were being hammered out and explored in real time. There’s so much to enjoy in this repositioning of memory across three glorious songs. It’s just so good to have these four young women playing their music together in a tiny room properly documented. Amazing to have this repressed on grape vinyl, and amazing to see this group grow in popularity by the day with a whole new generation. Strawberry Switchblade for ever and ever.
