It’s a scene that reads part sci-fi pulp, part Wild West fantasy, and one that’s both an imaginary fact and a real fiction for Slowfoam, who spent their teens in the Sonoran Desert—itself a haze of natural marvels and spiritual malaise, deep-seeded mysticism and cookie-cutter mania.

It’s to this psychosocial ground that they return on an album that lands somewhere in the realm of sonic autofiction. As is often the case with memory, the journey taken roams in wide spirals, cycling through a wilderness of images and impressions that continually twist and invert. The unconscious rewinds into a new rhythm. A footprint in the sand leaves its indent in the clouds. Our motorcycle must ride backwards if it's to reach the horizon.
