Brand new from King Creosote & Maeirerad Green’s project Buoy Gull. Centered on Kenny Anderson’s vocal, here given a twisting, folk-inflected melodious lilt, the A-side Me-m=Me is a waltz full of heartbreak. Green’s composition is succinct, with violins and accordion providing a quietly stirring back. On the flip, The Mod is a more abstract piece with droned loop, a violin rhythmically picking out peaks and troughs. Here the duo get to explore tonality and atmosphere, with building reverb dissipating the composition towards the end. A great counterpoint to the more melancholy traditional song side A.
