Released in 1992 on the iconic Dischord label, Novelty is the second studio album from American post-hardcore legends Jawbox. Bristling with energy and purpose and capped off by J. Robbins’ increasingly elliptical lyrics, it saw the introduction of second guitarist/vocalist Bill Barbot which bolstered the group’s incredible sense of attack.
Jawbox played its first show opening for Fugazi in 1989. Not long after that, the band began to tour and record, releasing its first single, Tools & Chrome, in 1990 as a split between Desoto and Dischord.
The 12″ LP was remastered in 2014 by Dan Coutant at Sunroom Audio re-cut by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.
