‘Malompo Jazz’ (also known as ‘Malombo Jazz Vol. 1’) was the debut album from Pretorian band the Malombo Jazz Makers. Recorded in 1966, it was one of the first South African albums to properly fuse jazz with African sonic and rhythmic traditions. Reissued on Strut with original artwork and a new interview with percussionist Julian Bahula.
