The Pastels fourth long player, originally released in 1997, was a world away from the rough-around-the-edges beauty of their early work. As a signpost to The Pastels future work, Illumination is, well, illuminating. Like the last rays of a lazy, gorgeous summer there are perfect moments through-out, with Katrina Mitchell’s vocals lifting the arrangements into new heights for the group.
