Monorail at The Glad Cafe
Dorothy Max, Adele Bertei, Ribbon Stage events

We’re really happy to be teaming up with one of our favourite places in Glasgow, The Glad Cafe in the southside, for a series of events which starts this Thursday with Dorothy Max presenting her brilliant 69 Exhibition Road book. She’s going to be in conversation with Becky Marshall and JD Twitch. There will also be a preview of the Rema-Rema film, What You Could Not Visualise. This is a particular thrill for myself (SP) and Michael as we are hardcore fans of her I Confess / Softness 45. Tickets are going fast for this.
On Saturday (27th) we have Adele Bertei presenting her Twist: An American Girl memoir. This is a riveting wild ride of a book taking in the 1970s / 80s Queer NY scene, no wave and the first incarnation of ZE Records. Fittingly the book is published by ZE, now relaunched as a book imprint. She will be in conversation with our pal, David Keenan. No wave / ZE set from Shopping’s Andrew Milk and Ray Aggs. Now that IS a Saturday night.
Finally, one of our great lockdown finds, Ribbon Stage, on their first UK visit, will be blasting the place out with their winning mix of Shop Assistants Shangri-las, Ramones style pop bedlam. This is definitely not to be missed. Support from the always amazing R. Aggs (Sacred Paws, Shopping, Trash Kit) and new contenders, Former Champ.
